About Robert Hartung

About Me

To Rebekah's Place

Meet Robert Hartung - KE4JCD
Robert

Rebekah Hartung - KF4BEL
Rebekah

Welcome, my name is Robert Hartung, and I am age 50 and married. My Wife's name is Rebekah, and we been married since March of 1988. We live in Lakeland, Florida USA. I was born in Maple Shade, NJ to Ruth and Fred Hartung in December of 1959. We lived at 22 N Holly Ave, Maple Shade, NJ.

My father, Fred Hartung worked on government projects for Hughes Aircraft in Californian. When I was not in school, I traveled around the United States with my father while he was working on the government projects. As my father's work took him around the United States, I had to attend a private boarding school in Atco, NJ. until I was 17 and received my high school diploma. I then rented an efficiency apartment atop the Palace Confectionery; 24 E Scott St; Riverside, NJ.

My mother, whose maiden name was Ruth A. Wagner, I have no idea of her whereabouts for she vanished after my father and mothers divorced when I was very young. My mother was from Pennsylvania and my Father told me that her family was of Amish descent. My father believed marriage is for life as do I and why my father would never remarry. He would never disclose anymore information...

My father retired while I was 17 and living in Riverside, NJ. By age 18 I began a lawnmower repair business which I kept open for 3 years. I also started Hartung Candle Manufacturing Company that I later sold and the new owners moved the factory to Taiwan. Around the spring of 1980 my father moved to Florida, and asked if I would accompany him.

So I sold my businesses in the fall of 1980 and moved to Lakeland, FL. I reopen my lawnmower repair business in Lakeland, calling it Bobby's Small Engine Shop and set up a booth at our local flea market to sell lawn mower blades, parts, and accessories. It turned out to be a great way of advertising. Before long, push lawn mowers became throwaway items, so around late 1986, I sold it to someone who was trying for sometime to acquire it.

It nevertheless allowed me to encounter Rebekah in the fall of 1987 at a local restaurant. So in the spring of 1988, we became man and wife at Shepherd Road Baptist Church and the rest is history...

Today, I'm a Freelance Web Application Programmer and Publisher. I own and operate Hartung Media, and some of our sites including; This site RobertHartung.com; Simply Great Buys Magazine a Online Shopping Guide; Hartung Business Report Reporting on Home Based Business; HartungReport.org and Hartungpress.org National Conservative Political News.

My Wife Rebekah is employed by Publix Supermarket Warehouse and works in the Product Warehouse. We have no children, but we have 3 dogs and 6 cats.

The Robert's Hobby's

  • My Computer Hobby's include,

    • I love Computers:
The first computer I owned was a Commodore PET. Currently, I own a laptop with Windows XP Professional, and Acer Aspire ONE with Linux Linpus Lite. I own two desktops, the first is a ASUS home built with Linux Red Hat desktop and the other is a ASUS home built with SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10. I favor the Linux to Windows Vista or 7; I believe Linux will eventually replace Windows. The Linux operating System is a far more stable operating system than the blue screen of death with windows. Additionally, Mac's are impressive systems with  Mac OS 10, extremely high quality, and very stable.

    • I am a Web Designer and Application Programmer.
I'm very knowable in HTML, CGI, ASP, PHP, XML, Java, Ajax, and Java script. (This Whole Site from The ground up was first design by hand and now with the aid of Dreamweaver, and AlleyCode V2.21; I design Flash Movies with Swish Max 3, or Eclipse). Even so, you still need to hard code your work. I was slowly moving away from this form of site design to Joomla, and other content management systems. However, I found too many security gaps, but we are working to correct the problems.

    • Graphic Design:
I use Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 and Swish Max 3.

    • Computer Programming:
Visual Basic, C/C++ and Web Application Design with Eclipse in Java, Ajax and Java script.

    • Love calling BBS's:
First via landline, and now via telnet. Formally, I was the Sysop of The Magic BBS, a Local Land Line BBS for many years before Cyberspace.

    • My first computer:
I owned was a Commodore PET, then a Commodore Vic-20. The very first IBM Compatible I owned was a DTK 286, 12MHZ with DOS 3.1 and no Windows.
